Words of affirmation are not my strong suit. I’m an introvert, not a great communicator, I write more than I talk. Yet I know without a doubt that my kids *need* these encouraging words from me! I admit, I struggle to find the words to even say sometimes. God has been prompting my heart lately about this very thing.
I’m a mom; so of course I think my kids are beautiful and uniquely and wonderfully made. As is each child! But, I do worry that culture drowns out that truth from the ears of my children. Sometimes I even struggle with it myself! This world’s definition of beauty and strength and character can often be very different from what God’s Word tells us!
So I was super excited to see this new line of products from Dayspring {also carried at Walmart and Hobby Lobby now from June 15- July 14th!} called U-NEEKS! There is also a fun app available now, go to your app store and type in “U-NEEKS” to find it!
But, my favorite part of this line is probably the U-NEEKS – God’s Love – Encouragement Notes for Kids (you can see a few samples pictured in top picture) that I can leave for my kids. In fact, after 8 years of homeschooling we are putting our kids in private school in the fall AND I’m THRILLED to have these notes to place in their lunches. That is giving me comfort right now through a difficult decision and time of change for our family. It is such a small thing, but those encouraging words can have a big impact on their day and their heart. Think about the last time someone wrote you an encouraging word or card…it means a lot!
Hannah loves owls right now…so these are great for kids AND tweens! 🙂 Here you can see Hannah with
U-NEEKS – Alliebird Plush, which happens to be her favorite.
I would love to hear from you on this…how do you help your child know that they are uniquely and wonderfully made? I think part of telling our kids they are unique and wonderful is to explain what unique even means. I think kids need to hear that we are all *different* and *quirky* and that those things are what God called GOOD. The culture we live in puts such importance on beauty and image and most of the time there isn’t anything different about what we see on tv, in magazines, etc. We see the same, thin, perfect hair and clothing, etc. But that isn’t real life!
Having tween girls and a boy not too far behind, this has been on my heart so much. I shared 5 books we’ve used in our home to discuss purity and puberty with our girls. And as hard as it is, I’m trying to continue having these discussions with them. It’s out of my comfort zone for sure, but I know it’s vital. The encouraging notes and the stuffed animals I received as a part of this review are helping me to encourage my kids in their uniqueness. And I love that! Check out all the U-NEEK products for yourself!
