Bible in 90 Days

Can you believe we are at our last week of reading the Bible in 90 days?? Each and every time I cannot believe we have made it this far!!

It’s a lot of time and effort, I don’t get to read as much of  other things as I usually like, but it is so worth it.

There is nothing like being in God’s Word!!

hope
encouragement
comfort
guidance
peace

When we believe that God will speak to us through His Word, we want to spend more and more time with Him. I pray that even after this 90 day journey is over, we can each hold on to the precious time in His Word.

We have just a FEW DAYS LEFT!

Let’s do this! :)

Bible in 90 Days – Week 11

Bible in 90 Days

This past week we spent our time in the gospels. I love the gospels so much.  I think we need to spend more time in the gospels, constantly searching out Jesus and lining our lives up with His. Constantly seeking what He would do. Constantly looking to Him for the answers and how to treat others.

I think my very favorite phrase in the gospels is:

“and He had compassion on them.”

I read it and highlighted it time and time again. And smiled each time I did.

I daresay that as believers, we need to do this a little more often!

Instead of the critical glance in the grocery store, have compassion on them.

Instead of the rude words at the other driver, have compassion on them.

Instead of letting heated words of anger slip out so quickly, have compassion on them.

Instead of looking down on others for their obvious sins, have compassion on them.

{I’m preaching to myself here, ya’ll.}

It’s how Jesus lived. It’s how I want to live.

Bible in 90 Days {week 10}

Bible in 90 Days

We are starting our TENTH WEEK of reading the Bible in 90 days! We are well over halfway through now and I know there are many of us needing an extra BOOST of encouragement to get through the last 26 days or so!!

For those of you who find the old testament difficult to read and understand (like me) you will be happy to know that this week we start the new testament!! woo-hoo!! I’ve been excited to get into the gospels for awhile now!

Before we leave the old testament, though, I want to share with you one conviction I had as I was reading through the major and minor prophets of the old testament.

The prophets of the old testament truly and deeply grieved over the sins of their people and their land. The fasted, prayed, wore ashes and sackcloth…intense grieving over SIN.

When is the last time you grieved over a sin in your life?

I’m speaking to myself here most of all. I know the Lord used these passages to remind me of my sin, my need for the gospel and for a Savior on a daily basis. Yes, I’m saved…but yes, I’m STILL NEEDY. Very needy. And very much desperate for a Savior.

I want to be truly broken over the things in my life that keep me from close relationship with God.

Join me in praying that we will allow God to break our hearts for our sin and for the things that break His heart.

Bible in 90 Days – Weeks 7 & 8

Bible in 90 Days

Forgive me for not posting last week, with my Praying the Psalms series starting I didn’t want to put up another post that day. So the blog has been a bit crazy with the Psalms series and everything else. :)

Last week’s reading and this coming week’s reading are some awesome passages.

There are so many wonderful passages in Isaiah that I cling to so very often.

“You will keep him in perfect peace
him whose mind is steadfast
because he trusts in you.”

This is one of those verses that I don’t think will ever be perfected in me here on earth…but I cling to the verse with such HOPE that when I do turn my mind, focus and thoughts to Him, He gives such precious peace. There are those moments of perfect peace…and give me such a longing for heaven, yes?

I hope you will take an extra few minutes and read Isaiah 58 – even if you aren’t reading through the Bible in 90 days…I have written before about how much this chapter has affected me. It is so powerful. It’s worth taking another look…and another and another. :)

Praying for you, dear friends.

Have a blessed week!

Bible in 90 Days – Week 6

Bible in 90 Days

Whew! Another week of reading is behind us! I have been so intrigued by how the Chronicles are very much word-for-word chapters of 2 Samuel and 1 Kings!! If I had not been reading chronologically I would not have noticed this, I don’t think!

I also love the Psalms so much, so I’ve loved this portion. (As a matter of fact, I’m working on a 31 day series calling Praying the Psalms that will start October 1st! I hope you’ll join me!)

Another portion of Scripture that I am always fascinated with is the temple! I love reading about how detailed and intricate God’s instructions were! I love seeing comparisons in the OT temple and us, as the living temples of God today!

Today our reading takes us to Proverbs, which I also love — so much wisdom!!

Bible in 90 Days – Week 5

Bible in 90 Days

Oh wow…we have covered SO much in just 4 weeks! We have finished week 4 and are beginning our 5th week of reading!!

We read so many wonderful parts of God’s Word this week.

Ruth and Naomi…and Boaz.

Samuel anointing David and the reminder that God looks at the heart and not the outward appearance!

King David’s heart for God, despite great moral failures.

I think David is probably my favorite Bible character. The book of Psalms has long been my favorite book and I LOVE reading them in the chronological Bible reading plan because we read the words David penned WHEN they happened in his life. Reading Psalm 51 after Nathan confronted him about his adulterous relationship…seeing the ups and downs of David’s life yet reading his worship and his longing for God. David’s story and his life gives me hope.

What about you? What were your favorite portions from this week’s reading?

Bible in 90 Days

We are starting our 4th week!! Woo-hoo!!

I enjoy a lot of Deuteronomy. I love reading God’s instructions…especially to families, about teaching the things of God to our children, writing them on our hearts, having them in our homes.

“Hear O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the door frames of your houses and on your gates.” Deut. 6:4-8

What was your favorite portion from this week’s reading?

Bible in 90 Days

This week’s reading had us in Leviticus. This is one of the harder books for me to read each time. But, this time, the Lord was gracious…and He reminded me several times of the look we get at JESUS even in the Old Testament! I love it when words, passages, stories point us to Jesus long before He was ever born!!

“If the offering is a burnt offering from the herd, he is to offer a male without defect.” Lev. 1:3

“Every grain offering you bring to the Lord must be made without yeast…” Lev. 2:11 (the yeast represented sin as a fungus/mold. It grows in bread just like sin can grow in our lives.)

“The priest shall then put some of the blood on the horns of the altar of fragrant incense that is before the Lord in the Tent of Meeting. The rest of the bull’s blood he shall pour out at the base of the altar of burnt offering…” Lev. 4:7 (I’m not trying to play theologian or anything, but as I read that the rest of the blood would be poured out, I thought of Jesus and His blood poured out for me on the cross.)

Isn’t God’s Word amazing??

Bible in 90 Days

Favorite verse from this past week…

“…and Noah walked with God.” Genesis 6:9

wow.

This made me ponder what walking with God looks like.
Would others look at my life and know that I walk with God?
I want my life to be a reflection of my walking with Him.
Lord, may they say the same of me!

We did it! We finished a week of the Bible in 90 days!! I’d love to hear how your week went! :)

Bible in 90 Days
I am so excited to be starting our reading plan TODAY to read the Bible in 90 days!! I, along with my group of 12 readers, am reading the chronological plan this time!! This plan is new this year, so I’m very excited to be trying it out!I hope each of you that is reading along will check in by email or leaving a comment on this post!!

So, is everyone ready to get started?  I’d love to hear from you! And, I am praying for you, too!!

I have learned in my own life that the more time I spend in God’s Word, the more my faith grows…and the more faith I have, the more I trust Him, the more I trust the less I worry, the less I worry the more peace I have. God’s Word is full of promises to us, comfort, encouragement, instruction, and of course we can read about the lives of our heroes of the faith!

If God’s Word is all of those things to us, why don’t we spend MORE TIME reading, praying, meditating, memorizing and knowing it? That is my challenge as we start this adventure!! I hope you are excited and ready to begin!
