Tropical Traditions {coconut oil review & give away!}

Update: this give away is now closed! Congratulations to our winner, commenter # 8: Stephanie!! {Stephanie, I do not have any contact info for you, if I don't hear from you in a few days, I will pick another winner! Thank you!}

After I posted my Homemade Coconut Oil Lotion recipe, I was pleasantly surprised with an email from the company Tropical Traditions that sells Gold Label Certified Organic Coconut Oil! They offered to send me a jar {free} for me to try it out, use it and then share with you!! I also get to have a give away for a jar...keep reading! :)

Virgin Coconut Oil, Gold Label - 1 quart

As soon as I got my wonderful package in the mail - which is a large jar compared to what I've been buying previously - I got to work!! :)

I made my next batch of lotion with the coconut oil, a new batch of granola for Christmas gifts and then tried out my first ever homemade lip balm with it!! {I will be blogging about the lip balm very soon! I've tried a few recipes, actually, and want to share what worked and didn't work!}

All of my recipes turned out fabulously and I was very pleased with the quality of this coconut oil!! I also love that it is in a glass jar - that I can re-use. :) This oil is actually creamier than the oil I have previously bought, which I like a lot!

I wanted to share that if you are still unsure about using coconut oil, here are some videos with recipes included for you to try!  Also, check out this link that I have personally been reading and clicking through for more information and healthy benefits.

What is Virgin Coconut Oil?

Win 1 quart of Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil!

Tropical Traditions is America's source for coconut oil. Their Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil is hand crafted in small batches by family producers, and it is the highest quality coconut oil they offer. You can read more about how virgin coconut oil is different from other coconut oils on their website: What is Virgin Coconut Oil?

Tropical Traditions also carries other varieties of affordable high quality coconut oil. Visit their website to check on current sales, to learn about the many uses of coconut oil, and to read about all the advantages of buying coconut oil online. Since the FDA does not want us to discuss the health benefits of coconut oil on a page where it is being sold or given away, here is the best website to read about the health benefits of coconut oil.

This give away is now CLOSED!

  16. I subscribe to TT newsletter. Our favorite and most simple way to use coconut oil is wth equal parts butter on the stove top. It is delicious!! Also in making green curry and cooking chicken on the cast iron griddle. And I just read your lotion recipe, thank you for sharing it. I saw the comment about a preservative and wondered if the lavender had antibacterial properties?
    Thank you.

    I use coconut oil for just about everything! I put a few Tablespoons in the bath to make my skin soft, use it for cooking, use as a hot oil treatment for my dry hair, for oil pulling, skin treatment for eczema, as an eye make-up remover, and as a weight loss aid! I'm sure there are lots more ways to use coconut oil... and I am willing to find out! ;)

  29. I am subscribed to Tropical Traditions' newsletter. Thanks for the opportunity to win some fantastic CO!

    I started using coconut oil a couple years ago. Back then it was only for cooking. Now, I have a few more uses for it.

    I've been playing around with the Bulletproof Coffee concept (see Dave Asprey's blog), so I start my day with a couple tablespoons of CO with a couple tablespoons of homemade ghee from pastured butter. It's great way to get a dose of good fats in the morning, satiates me through the a.m. and evens out the energy to prevent crashing.

    Mixing CO with beeswax makes a moisturizing balm I use on my lips and hands during the winter.

    I use CO to lubricate my sutra neti string. It's less fragrant than ghee and cleaner feeling.
